I chose the colour orange as it represents determination, encouragement, change and success. I added the colour red because it associates with strength, passion and power.

At Yugumbir State School, we strive to provide an exciting curriculum that encourages students to develop self-confidence and embrace lifelong learning. Our curriculum adheres to the expectations of the Australian Curriculum.

The Australian Curriculum sets the goal for what all students should learn as they progress through their school life – wherever they live in Australia and whichever school they attend.

The Australian Curriculum Learning Areas provided include:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences)
  • HPE (Health and Physical Education)
  • Technologies (Design and Digital)
  • The Arts (Dance, Drama, Media Arts, and Visual Arts)
  • Music
  • Languages (Indonesian)

Students are taught, assessed and reported on in these subjects/learning areas in accordance with Department of Education Policy, and their outcomes are measured against the achievement standard at each juncture (year or band, depending on the subject). At a school level, we plan to deliver a curriculum that ensures all students have opportunities to engage in meaningful learning.

Our units have a strong focus on developing the knowledge and skills students will need to participate and shape their futures.  The learning opportunities provided by our units enable the school to produce a culture of high expectations and engaged learning.
