Sports

There are four houses for inter-house sport. They are Wallaroos (Red), Goannas (Gold), Kingfishers (Blue) and Gliders (green). Students are allocated to house colours so that members of the same family are in the same house.

House banners can be viewed here.

Students are given the opportunity to participate in sport on a regular basis. Each class from Year 3 onwards has an allocation of one hour sport time. The classes go out as a year level to participate in sport.
Year 6 students are given the opportunity to be involved in interschool sport. This program is participative whereby the teachers take as many teams as is possible for each sport.

The following sports are on offer:

  • AFL
  • basketball
  • cricket
  • soccer
  • hockey
  • netball
  • rugby league
  • softball
  • tennis
  • touch
  • volleyball

Students travel to various venues on a Friday afternoon to play against other schools from our district.

The students who are left at school are given the choice of the following sports by the teachers at school:

  • touch
  • softball
  • basketball
  • cricket

We are in the Greenbank District for sport and trials.

The Metropolitan West School Sport website offers information on state, regional and some district events, as well as provides assistance to families and students on how to become involved in representative school sport.

The website also offers links to other government departments, which assist in such fields as the Young Athletes Assistance Program, Get Active Queensland Accreditation Program and other local sporting events, workshops and seminars.
