Yugumbir State School has a recently refurbished library, complete with air-conditioning and an interactive whiteboard.
Students are assigned a borrowing number in the form of a barcode which remains the same for the complete duration of their schooling at Yugumbir. They are encouraged to borrow in class time as well as before and after school and during the lunch breaks.
Opening Hours
8.30 am - 3.00 pm Monday to Friday
The library is open during first break (daily)
Borrowing Guidelines
All students are encouraged to borrow regularly and frequently. Students in Prep to Year 3 are required to use a library bag (preffered Waterproof) to reduce the likelihood of damage to the books.
A library resource is borrowed for a maximum of two weeks. If a student needs extra time, the resource must be returned and renewed.
Borrowing limits depend on Year level
Prep maximum of 1 book
Year 1 maximum of 2 books
Year 2 maximum of 2 books
Year 3 maximum of 2 books
Year 4 maximum of 3 books
Year 5 maximum of 3 books
Year 6 maximum of 3 books
All students may borrow in their own time. Students are encouraged to return books promptly so others may borrow them.
Lost or damaged library resources have to be paid for or replaced.
Book fair
This event is held on a yearly basis to provide students and parents with the opportunity to purchase quality books at reasonable prices. It is also beneficial for the library as the school receives a commission on the total sale amount of books purchased. Further resources are then purchased for the library.
